Ensemble led by drummer/percussionist Dave Smith based around the sound of the Sabar drums from The Gambia, West Africa. The band’s eponymous 2014 debut album presents a fascinating variety of African, Western and other worl music styles. The line up features Johnny Brierley (bass), Tom Challenger (sax, keyboards), Phil Stevenson (guitar) and Kaw Secka (Sabar & Tama drums) plus a variety of guests including Senegalese vocalist/lyricist Batch Gueye.
