Eight piece ensemble led by Manchester based trumpeter, composer and bandleader Matthew Halsall. Features Nat Birchall (reeds), Lisa Mallett (flute), Keiko Kitamura (koto), Rachael Gladwin (harp), Taz Modi (piano), Gavin Barrass (bass) and Luke Flowers (drums).
Album “When The World Was One” released June 2014 on Halsall’s own Gondwana record label. The music continues Halsall’s highly personalised exploration of the modal and spiritual jazz of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders.
