Black Mountain Jazz Club is delighted to welcome this innovative jazz ensemble, featuring graduates from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD), paying tribute to Thelonious Monk by performing tunes from his Straight No Chaser album alongside original compositions.

The ensemble will explore Monk’s iconic harmonies and rhythms, adding a contemporary twist to his timeless music. This performance promises bold improvisations and fresh interpretations, making it a must-see for jazz lovers. Released in 1959, Straight No Chaser is a landmark album in jazz history, showcasing Monk’s unique approach to harmony, rhythm, and improvisation.
The ensemble will delve into tracks like the titular Straight No Chaser and In Walked Bud, infusing these timeless pieces with their own creative twists while honouring Monk’s ground-breaking sound.
