The multi-Award-winning saxophonist Derek Nash is perhaps best known as one of the featured saxophonists with the Jools Holland Band. An experienced musician of many years standing his muscular, fluent, modern jazz playing has been recognised with numerous awards, including being voted one of the top 5 saxophonists in the country. Tonight Derek is bringing his great, swinging, band to the Club so expect something really quite special.

Singer/songwriter/pianist Natalie Duncan came to wider attention following her appearance on the BBC programme “Goldie’s Band by Royal Appointment”, with the Guardian declaring “An incandescent star is born”. Now working with groundbreaking jazz/funk band Incognito, Natalie’s performances are distinguished by an entrancing & atmospheric mix of jazz, soul and groove. Tonight she will “be performing a mixture of my own music alongside some of the great songs that have inspired me.”

Mon 3rd       8:00pm         REMEMBERING MARTIN FRANCE – A MUSICAL CELEBRATION  
Drummer Martin France, who passed away in September 2024 at the age of 60, was a remarkable musician whose loss has been profoundly felt in the jazz community. The list of projects and musicians with whom he was associated includes many fellow greats of jazz and improvised music, from Loose Tubes to The Perfect Houseplants to Dave Holland, John Paul Jones, Joe Lovano, Jason Rebello, Claire Martin, Bob Mintzer, Gwilym Simcock, John Surman, Norma Winstone and many many more. In the studios he appeared on numerous recordings for the highly-regarded European jazz label ECM and also released three albums with his own ‘Spin Marvel’, an adventurous mash up of jazz and ambient/electronic sounds. The performance this evening will be an all-star tribute to Martin featuring many of his UK contemporaries – an exceptional night celebrating the life and music of an exceptional man. Musicians who will be appearing this evening include Iain Ballamy, Mark Lockheart, Nick Smart, Claire Martin, Norma Winstone, Nikki Iles, Julian Joseph, Jason Rebello, Gwilym Simcock, Huw Warren, Gareth Williams, John Parricelli, Laurence Cottle, Steve Watts, Jim Hart, Paul Clarvis & James Maddren.                                       
This event is to benefit the Prostate Cancer Targeted Therapies Group at the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden.

American-born saxophonist Dan Reinstein first began playing at the old 606 Club when a medical student in the 1980’s. He returned to the US in the early 90s to become one of the world’s leading laser eye surgeons (he’s now Professor Reinstein), but when he returned to London, it was great to hear his fluent, classic hard-bop, muscular sax playing again and the rest, as they say, is history. Dan & his quartet have performed here for the last 20+ years and still going strong!

The award-winning pianist/singer Jonathan Gee is a long established and respected bandleader and sought-after sideman who includes work with the likes of Pharoah Sanders, Benny Golson and Mark Murphy. Tonight Jon’s special guest will be the wonderfully fluent and impressive Italian alto saxophonist Gaetano Partipilo (Jason Moran, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Billy Cobham). With arrangements from their recent album “Reimagining the Beatles”, described by London Jazz News as “a great listen”, the band will also feature MOBO & Mercury Prize-winning saxophonist Denys Baptiste (McCoy Tyner), making this an exceptional quintet.

Thu 6th       8:00pm                 NICOLAS MEIER WORLD GROUP
UK-based Swiss guitarist Nicolas Meier is an established star on the British jazz scene. A recipient of numerous awards his versatility and musical fluency drew the attention of guitar legend Jeff Beck, who for two world tours made Nicolas a mainstay of The Jeff Beck Group. Nic’s own style is a signature mix of modern jazz with Balkan, south American, Turkish, oriental and flamenco influences. The music tonight will combine material from Nicolas’s “World Group” albums as well as music that he wrote during his time with Jeff Beck, a collection of songs under the name of “Last Sunset”, making this an exciting night of Jazz, World Music and rock-fusion. Also featuring Richard Jones-violin & Alex Hutton-piano.

Fri 7th         9:00pm   BEVERLEY SKEETE WITH SPECIAL GUEST “FIRE” FT ERWIN KEILES
Beverley Skeete’s career in the music industry is the stuff that dreams are made of. A first call singer for numerous high-profile artists including Robbie Williams, Tina Turner and Elton John she was also a pivotal member of ex-Rolling Stones’ bassist Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings. Her talent and versatility have put her in a class that few can equal. Her Special Guests tonight are the band “Fire” featuring guitarist/MD Erwin Keiles, a legend on the International music scene who has worked with the likes of Sam Moore, Sister Sledge & Gloria Gaynor. One of the UK’s great singers alongside an iconic musician.

With six widely acclaimed albums to his name, including “Kavuma” (2018, Ubuntu) voted among the best albums of the year by Downbeat magazine plus four on his own Banger Factory Records, trumpeter Mark Kavuma has established himself as a fluent and creative player. However, it is not just as a player that Mark has made an impact on the scene. In 2015 he set up the Banger Factory, a collective that acts as a showcase for some of the most gifted jazz talent in the UK and which has been responsible for launching the careers of a significant number of young musicians. And he is also an associate leader for the Tomorrow’s Warriors programme and a brass tutor and leader at London-based carnival band Kinetika Bloco. The 6-piece band he is bringing to the Club tonight is an exciting mix of Award-winning musicians, including BBC Young Jazz Musician of The Year (2020) pianist Deschanel Gordon alongside the highly regarded saxophonist Mussinghi Brian Edwards.

Singer Fleur Stevenson is gifted with a honeyed vocal tone, sparkling presentation and a strong grasp of the jazz idiom. Fleur has appeared at numerous prestige venues as well as releasing two highly-regarded albums, ‘Follow Me’ and ‘For All We Know’, which was amongst Jazz Views’ ‘Best Albums of the Year’. Also featured today will be saxophonist Art Themen, a leading light of the British jazz scene for over 50 years. Lively arrangements of jazz favourites and Fleur’s gift for storytelling alongside Art’s inventive playing create a unique sound that is warm and exciting.

A five-time winner of Blues Connection and Blueprint Magazine’s “Top British Female Blues Vocalist”award, blues singer Dana Gillespie has now entered their Hall of Fame. Appearing with the London Blues Band featuring Dino Baptiste on piano & vocals, Dana’s music is full of style, character and most of all, heart. Quintessential Blues at its very best.

Mike’s unique soulful vocals and astonishing guitar playing have made him first call for a host of high-profile artists, including the likes of Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Rita Ora, Jamie Cullum, Ellie Goulding and Joss Stone. However, as well as his work as a respected studio and touring musician he also performs and produces his own impressive material, which resulted in him being invited to open for Paloma Faith under his own name. Following that successful appearance Mike has now started to focus more on performing his own, lyrical, groove/indie based material and we are pleased to welcome him here to the Club for the first time. Alongside Stevie Watts-keyboards, Sonny Winslow-bass & Magic Johnson-drums this promises to be an exciting night of excellent music of the highest calibre.

Tue 11th       8:00pm                   DIARRA WALCOTT-IVANHOE      
Growing up in London, pianist Diarra Walcott-Ivanhoe has had a rich and diverse musical upbringing that exposed him to Jazz, Soul, Reggae, Calypso and Soca. His love and appreciation of these different styles ultimately led to performances at venues such as the Jazz Café, Royal Albert Hall and Westminster Cathedral. The music he will be playing with his quintet this evening will be a mix of jazz standards from the American jazz tradition as well as the contemporary jazz scenes of New York and London, alongside his thoughtful, swinging originals. Also featured tonight will be John Alcock-sax and Matthew Hill-trumpet.

Italian-born vocalist Francesca Confortini brings sophistication and warmth to everything she does. With a background in musical theatre and international experience as a singer for the likes of Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) and gypsy-jazz ensembles Trio Manouche and Gypsy Dynamite as well as her own trio Jazz Silhouettes, she is capable of moving effortlessly from neo-jazz originals to interpretations of American Songbook classics.

Thu 13th       8:00pm                 **606 CLUB SPECIAL** ETHAN IVERSON
US-born pianist and composer Ethan Iverson is probably best known as a founding member of the iconic New York based band The Bad Plus, a game-changing collective with whom Ethan performed for over 17-years. Tonight Ethan presents his latest project, a solo program capitalising on his long interest in “film noir, mysterious science fiction, and other cinematic pursuits”, Into the Dark. For this solo recital, Ethen will weave a spellbinding web of pianistic mastery, bringing original music as well as covers of famous “dark” themes from television and cinema including Twin Peaks, Laura, Vertigo & Chinatown amongst many others. The concert will begin with Ethan’s new prelude “Into the Dark” and will end, appropriately, with his “Back to the Light”! A truly iconic, unique musician.

Pianist Joe Webb has become a force to be reckoned with on the UK jazz scene. He’s worked with Hailey Tuck, Adrian Cox and more, but it is with the Kansas Smitty’s House Band, the swinging, mainstream jazz outfit dubbed London’s ‘new swing princes’ that his profile has reached new heights, including appearing on Jamie Cullum’s Christmas album. Joe’s band this evening features the brilliant sax playing of Alec Harper and the swinging guitar of Dave Archer.

Benn Clatworthy is a truly impressive modern jazz tenor player who was first brought to our attention by the late Ronnie Scott. After a stint with the iconic Horace Silver band Benn moved to the US and has gone on to establish himself as a musician of impressive pedigree and talent, working with the likes of Billy Higgins, Cab Calloway & Cedar Walton. Tonight Benn will be performing with his quartet a mix of classic, post-bop jazz standards and material from his latest recording “The Pursuit”. A powerful and impressive player. “

Mary Pearce is the “Queen” of studio and backing vocals. You may not know her name but you will certainly have heard her powerful, soulful vocals with the likes of Lionel Ritchie, Chaka Khan, Courtney Pine and Beverley Knight. As well as more than 20 years as a studio singer Mary has also featured as lead vocalist on a number of “Groove” and Dance hits and more recently has been touring with pop icon Boy George as an integral part of his (excellent) band. Really impressive Groove gig, this.

Barry Green is a wonderful modern jazz pianist whose fluent and melodic playing has made a significant impact on the UK jazz scene. His cv is vast, including work with the likes of Bobby Watson, Charles McPherson, Richie Cole and Us3 as well as with his own trio. For this 606 date Barry is bringing his “Generations”quartet to the Club featuring the excellent young singer Aitzi Cofre Real and upcoming saxophonist Maddy Coombs alongside the great iconic UK bassist Dave Green (Stan Tracey, Charlie Watts).

Rachael Calladine includes numerous appearances at the likes of Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Dean Street, the Jazz Cafe and the London Jazz Festival on a sparkling cv. The ex-lead vocalist with the classic Fusion band Us3, with whom she toured extensively her co-written song “La La Li” was featured on Gilles Peterson’s album ‘Worldwide Vol 2.’ and her debut album of original material “Life, Love & Gossip” on Kwerk records was received with great critical acclaim. Tonight Rachel is returning to her jazz roots with her latest album on 33Jazz Records, ‘The Game’, featuring a mixture of new original swing music and well-known jazz classics. Also featuring Pat McCarthy-guitar, Andy Tytherleigh-bass and Si Potts-drums.

Born and raised in Brixton, singer and harmonica player Errol Linton got his first break 30 years ago when heard by a BBC producer busking and has been steadily building his reputation as a world-class blues talent ever since. He was nominated for ‘Best Blues Act’in the 2019 Jazz FM Awards, featured alongside Big Bill Broonzy in BBC 2’s ‘Two Generations of the Blues’ and championed by radio presenters John Peel, Robert Elms, Paul Jones, & Cerys Matthews. Accompanied by his quintet this is home grown blues at its best.

Saxophonist Binker Golding has a host of Awards to his name, including two Jazz FM awards, a Parliamentary Jazz Award and a MOBO Award for Best Jazz Act. Perhaps best known for the exciting duo “Binker & Moses” his fluent, creative, playing has been heard in a wide variety of musical contexts and his albums have cemented his reputation as an important voice on the UK jazz scene. Tonight he makes a welcome return to the Club to “play some of my favourite jazz standards and traditional blues numbers”.

Well, this is pretty special, two of the UK’s finest musicians, saxophonist Derek Nash (Jools Holland) and singer Noel McCalla (Manfred Mann), come together to celebrate the music of one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time, Stevie Wonder. Accompanying these two remarkable musicians will be their stellar band, including Tim Cansfield (the Bee Gees)-guitar. Unique and powerful.

Expat Australian Tristan Wills is an impressive jazz pianist, vocalist and composer who is a versatile musician with an impressive cv that includes six albums, performances in the likes of Paris, Spain, Germany, Melbourne and Perth and projects that span a wide variety of genres and styles. Tonight, alongside Jack Banjo-trumpet, Gordon Li-bass and Tom Potter-drums he will be bringing to the Club his “Internal Dialogue” project that he describes as “a reflective jazz quartet… blending traditional jazz with modern contemporary elements”. Expect rich harmony, lyrical melodies and music that is both intimate and fun.

“Dreamweavers” is a new project led by guitarist Chris Allard (Jamie Cullum, Gwilym Simcock) featuring Jim Watson (Katie Melua)-piano, Dudley Phillips (Mark Knopfler)-bass & Nick Smalley-drums. Tonight they showcase their debut album “Woven in Time”, which they describe as having contemporary jazz sensibility alongside rock, folk, blues, Latin &Eastern influences. This is Chris’s 7th release, previous recordings garnering critical acclaim including four stars in Guitarist Magazine, Jazzwise &Jazz Journal. An exciting group of musicians at the very top of their game.

Schooled in Latin, African, Brazilian and jazz, musician/composer/educator Roland Perrin’s many impressive achievements include the lauded full-length opera for choir and jazz band “Lansky” and the 300 strong choral, jazz/Brazilian tour de force “Rio Amazonas”. Tonight, as Roland puts it, “expect a kaleidoscope of world music grooves filtered through a satisfying mix of jazz and compositional narrative”, featuring both original material, as well as surprising re-workings of classic jazz repertoire. His compelling and hugely impressive music fuses African, Brazilian, modern jazz and contemporary tunes into a unique and captivating sound. Tonight he teams up with fellow Italian/Sardinian guitarist, composer and educator Giorgio Serci. Prepare to be moved and enthralled as these two world-class musicians celebrate the unexpected with humour and passion.

Tonight we present an evening celebrating the joyous, rhythms of classic Brazilian MPB with the outstanding Brazilian band “Samara”. Featuring the brilliant Brazilian vocalist Carolina Lelis alongside the lyrical piano of John Crawford and the swinging flute of our “Gov’nor” Steve Rubie the band take you on a road trip around Brazil, with music from the South, the North, the North East and beyond. Hear the stories behind some of Brazil’s classic songs and join the band as they perform an infectious blend of Brazilian Samba, Baião, jazz &Latin while everyone has a great time!

Nigel Price is a highly skilled guitarist as well as an accomplished composer whose swinging bebop approach combined with flawless control is a delight. He has played on more than 50 albums, spent ten years with acid jazz outfit the Filthy Six, was a member of James Taylor’s jazz/funk band and has appeared at Ronnie Scott’s over 600 times. As leader he has recorded 9 albums and has received the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Best Jazz Ensemble and the British Jazz Award for ‘Best Small Group’. Tonight Nigel has invited one of the UK’s most iconic musicians, guitarist Jim Mullen, to join him as his Special Guest. A multi-award winner, including a special Honorary Parliamentary Jazz Award in 2017, Jim is widely regarded as one of the finest jazz guitarists in Europe. Remarkably this will be the first time these two stalwarts of the British Jazz scene have ever played together, so expect plenty of exciting music and a great deal of fun.

Join us to celebrate the great Soul and Funk songs from the likes of George Benson and Michael Jackson with “Thunderthumbs”, the 10-piece band led by bassist Phil Mulford. Inspired by the great US bassist Louis Johnson’s work the set runs from Louis’ time with Billy Preston in 1972 through to his own band The Brothers Johnson and the Quincy Jones hits on which he played. The gig features 3 brilliant singers, Jacqui Hicks & Debby Bracknell (Shakatak) & Simon Foster (Flying Pickets), a deeply grooving rhythm section and powerhouse horns.
