eavesdropping returns for another four-day festival, curated by Juliet Fraser, which includes four evening double-bill events (at Cafe OTO) and a weekend-long forum of provocations (at Vortex Jazz Club). Eight artists working at the experimental fringes or intersections of various musical genres will share new work, stimulating our ears and our imaginations. During this year’s forum we will explore the topic ‘Experiments in Magic’, with weighty talks by Zuleika Lebow & Sara Mohr-Pietsch and a
global soundwalk led by Ximena Alarcón-Díaz sitting alongside shorter contributions gathered through our annual Call for Provocations.

Many festivals claim to be accessible or welcoming to all; few practice that ambition quite so assiduously… The welcoming atmosphere extends to the performers, who are encouraged to present something they haven’t been able to do elsewhere, and the weekend’s best moments mix humility and adventure.
— Tim Rutherford-Johnson, The Wire, 2024

about eavesdropping
eavesdropping is a platform for the sharing of new music and new ways of thinking about music. Excited by experimentalism, we create opportunities for artists and audiences to practise engaged listening and compassionate debate. Our activity includes a festival, a forum, a podcast, and artist development opportunities. Our mission is to build community through an ethics of curiosity and care, in the belief that ripples do make waves.

Festival Producer Linda Jankowska adds;

I am pleased to announce eavesdropping’s next festival, a riotous four-day festival running 27-30 March 2025 at Cafe OTO and Vortex Jazz Club in London. https://www.cafeoto.co.uk/events/eavesdropping-festival-2025/.

This will be eavesdropping’s sixth edition. Since 2017 we have built a reputation for imaginative programming that focuses on female artists working at the experimental fringes of a variety of musical genres. From the jazz and free improvised scene, the festival will feature bills from Rachel Musson, Isidora Edwards and Madison Greenstone.
