Hansu-Tori is the brainchild of Birmingham-based pianist and composer David Austin Grey. Hitting the road to support the release of new album An Improvised Escape, the band have gained quite a following in the Midlands and are now set to take this success further afield with their Jazz Services supported tour.

The band‟s name is a combination of Korean and Japanese words meaning ?water‟ and ?bird‟, respectively, and Grey‟s engaging and evocative music reflects the attributes traditionally associated with both of these terms ? flowing, fluid, thought-provoking and evocative. His elegant and tuneful compositions draw on a wealth of musical sources, open to influences from modern classical music, electronic, cinematic sounds, rock and the avant-garde and refining them all through a seasoned jazz-informed mind-set. Grey‟s dynamic but melodic approach to writing gives the whole band space to flex their collective imagination, and the addition of guest personnel to the core sound elevates proceedings even further.
Hansu-Tori offer an intriguing and exhilarating live experience that it not to be missed.

?What is most impressive, apart from the sophisticated writing, is the clear and personal sound and style Grey has
developed, together with the highly sympathetic playing of these young musicians.? - The Jazz Breakfast

?A great debut album? - Mike Chadwick/Jazz FM

?Hansu-Tori’s distinctive sound and innovative style make them a perfect example of the incredible craftsmanship present in British jazz at the moment.? - Redbrick Newspaper
