With support from the Jerwood Charitable Foundation, the Birmingham based Jazzlines programme is to offer three Jazz Fellowships to the country?s most talented emerging jazz musicians aged 18-35.

Major boost for emerging UK jazz artists announced

UK music has been given a boost with the news that, with support from the Jerwood Charitable Foundation, the Jazzlines programme is to offer three Jazz Fellowships to the country’s most talented emerging jazz musicians aged 18-35, enabling them to devote time and resources to their musical and professional development.

Fellows will be nominated by industry professionals based on their skills, commitment and potential to develop, and Fellowships will begin in March 2013, running for one year.

During that time, Fellows will have access to mentoring and one-to-one advice, master classes, professional development workshops, resources to support their artistic development, ?go and see’ visits and high profile performance opportunities.

By the end of the year, Fellows will have created a new jazz work or series of pieces, had the opportunity to showcase their work as part of the Jazzlines programme and develop plans to tour their new work nationally.
