Friday, October 07, 2011
Congratulations to the members of Kairos 4tet on the winning of this award which was presented at the SEC in Glasgow on Wednesday 5th October 2011 in a ceremony broadcast live on BBC 3.
The band have sent their fans the following message;
Well we’ve just about recovered from a rather surreal evening in Glasgow where we somehow picked up the MOBO Award for ‘Best Jazz Act’. It was an incredible experience and a night that won’t be forgotten in a hurry. We just wanted to take a moment to wholeheartedly thank all of you who voted for us. Your support means everything.
With love and gratitude

The band’s label, Edition Records, says;
We are extremely happy and proud to announce Adam Waldmann’s Kairos 4tet has won the BEST JAZZ ACT at the MOBO AWARDS 2011. In 2009 Kairos 4tet burst on the UK Jazz scene with their captivating and melodic debut Kairos Moment which created an excitement that few bands are able to do from a debut album.
With the release of their second album Statement of Intent in April 2011, they not only confirmed their promise and reputation but produced undeniably their best work to date. Winning rave reviews from both national and international press, a performance to a sellout crowd at Ronnie Scotts as part of the Brit Jazz Fest, Kairos 4tet, featuring the stellar line-up of Ivo Neame, Jasper Hoiby and Jon Scott will not take this award sitting down ? Expect bigger and better things to come!
The Jazzmann says;
Congratulations to Adam, Ivo, Jasper and Jon on the winning of this award. I’m pleased to say that we’ve been champions of the band from the very beginning, immediately recognising the potential of “Kairos Moment”. The band and its individual members have featured prominently on this site ever since and rightly so.
Well done guys, I’m looking forward to seeing the new MOBO award winners next week when they appear at The Edge Arts Centre, Much Wenlock on the 15th October.
Ian.
