Perico Sambeat
Spanish alto saxophonist Perico Sambeat, sometimes heard in Britain with Guy Barker or Tim Garland, is a performer with echoes of Art Pepper, Lee Konitz and Eric Dolphy who is none the less an artist of imposing character within a straightish postbop context
John Fordham, The Guardian
Perico Sambeat is one of Europe’s most celebrated jazz saxophonists and composers.  Based in Barcelona, he has worked with distinguished names such as Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, Kenny Wheeler, and Maria Schneider, and has recorded countless works for small and large ensemble.  His compositional output is equally matched by his blistering playing technique, and full instantly recognizable sound.  His recordings have earned him worldwide recognition for excellence and feature such notables as Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner, and Jeff Ballard.  Perico is joined by French guitarist Romain Pilon - making his London debut - and rising star drummer from NYC, Colin Stranahan.  Romain’s playing has earned him a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music, and further to NYC where he played with Seamus Blake and Lionel Lueke.  Although in his early 20s, Colin Stranahan has already performed with John Scofield, Benny Golson, Ron Carter, and Herbie Hancock, and recently finished a two-year stint at The Thelonious Monk Institute directed by Terence Blanchard.
