‘Sunday Service’ Pilot to Start in May

I’m really excited to announce that in a couple of months, we’ll be extending our live music programming at The Marr’s Bar and trying out a new ‘Sunday Service’, featuring soul, gospel and R’n'B. I’ve arranged two pilot shows that will run on the last Sunday in May and June, probably starting at 5pm and wrapping up around 7:30pm. If these pilot events are well supported, I’ll extend our programming from the Autumn to include more of the same vibe with monthly events on a Sunday evening.

The first show, on Sunday 25th May, will feature Birmingham-based Urban Soul Family (pictured), headed up by bassist Patrick White. On Sunday 29th June we have Danni Mayers, who performed one of her songs ‘Monday Blues’ during Reed Bass’ performance with us in December 2023 - watch it here!).

I’ll be keeping our ‘pay what you can’ admission model for these shows, however our current Club Membership benefits will only apply to our Thursday night jazz / fusion program, so everyone attending will need to contribute on the door. Depending on how well these events are supported, I may introduce an ‘all-inclusive’ membership next year that covers our Thursday and Sunday events, but we’ll work that out as we go.
