New jazz venture in Ludlow, Shropshire.

Saxophonist and promoter James Hunt is starting a new monthly jazz series "Down The River" at the Charlton Arms in Ludlow. The first performance will be on May 22nd 2015 with the visit of Alan Barnes.
James Hunt writes;
My name Is James Hunt. I am a musician and local promoter of good jazz music. I have started a new venue in an idyllic spot above the River Teme in Ludlow. The Venue is the Charlton Arms River Terrace, the perfect room for jazz/roots/blues. I’ve named the new monthly music night ?Down the River? .
To start proceedings I have booked 3 of the top names in Jazz and Roots music. The opening evening on May
22nd will feature the Alan Barnes Quartet. Alan is the UKs leading be-bop saxophonists and is regarded as the finest exponents of this genre in the UK and Worldwide.
Second to perform on June 26th is the Remi Harris Trio. Remi’s career has recently taken off by being made one of the BBC introducing named artists of 2015. During the Cheltenham Jazz Festival Remi featured live on BBC Radio
2’s Jamie Cullum show. Since then his album ?Ninick? has shot to the top 20 in the iTunes jazz chart. The trio are the finest exponents of the gypsy Jazz style made famous by Django Reinhart .
On July 10th Down the River invite Dan Walsh to play. Described by Simon Mayo of Radio 2 as ? banjo wizardry? .
