Phronesis leader Jasper Hoiby has emailed us with the group's news including details of an appearance at the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival.

Here’s what Jasper has to say;

Hi Everyone,
I’m very happy to tell you that Phronesis will be performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival on the 9th of July, 2010. It’s been a dream of mine to play there for some time so I’m delighted that it’s finally going to happen!

Phronesis have also been Nominated for the Parliamentary Jazz Awards in the UK in the category ‘Best Jazz Ensemble’. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the Terrace Pavilion of the House of Commons on the 19th of May.

Also, to all my Danish friends and relatives Phronesis will be playing a gig at ‘Prismen’ in Copenhagen on the 4th of May.

We will also be playing two gigs in the UK in May, appearing at the Vortex Jazz Club in London and at the Spin in Oxford. The Vortex gig will be a chance to celebrate my Birthday (!) so please come along if you can as it would be great to see some of you there.

Later in the summer we are playing at Copenhagen, Glasgow and Brecon Jazz Festivals, but I’ll let you know about that in due time.

Finally the new Phronesis Live album (featuring Mark Guiliana) is now mixed and mastered and will be ready for release on Edition Records on the 26th of July, 2010!
I’m really happy with how it sounds and can’t wait to share it with you all.
