Friday, January 23, 2009

As you know, The Jazz Mann is a big fan of Pontypool Jazz. They have sent me their "mission statement" and some contact details.

?Pontypool Jazz?: Formed Feb.‘08 to promote jazz, and create a greater awareness of live music in Pontypool, and surrounding areas. The promoters, at this time, intend to have a different band, once a month, usually 3rd Saturday.

The Music: Modern, bebop, fusion, spontaneous and more. Featuring young rising musicians and the more established stars, from small groups to larger bands, local and further afield. Bands on stage around 8-30pm. Break, then play till 11pm.

The Venue: ?The Comrades Club? Market St.Pontypool.  (Town Centre).

With disabled access. Space for few cars to park outside club doors for musicians to unload, and carry onto stage ? no stairs. Very good acoustics, spacious comfortable room, good size bar, snacks available, Stage large enough for big bands. Space for dancing, for those who wish to.

Admission: According to cost of band appearing at the time, say from £4-00. Pay at the door.

Parking: opposite Barclays Bank and walk up road. Also opposite Police St. (well lit up) and walk down road.
