R.I.P.  Herb and Hank

The deaths of two veterans of the music, guitarist Herb Ellis and pianist Hank Jones, have been recently been announced.

I was sad to hear of the recent deaths of two giants of the music, guitarist Herb Ellis (1921-2010) and pianist Hank Jones (1918-2010). Jones was the eldest of the Detroit Jones jazz dynasty. His younger brothers Thad (trumpet) and Elvin (drums) predeceased him.

Both Ellis and Hank Jones led long and productive musical lives. Our condolences go to their families and friends.
