The Drawing Room…After Dark is a unique musical offering that embraces the opulent charm of The Drawing Room at Brown’s Hotel, in Mayfair and fills it with off-beat and unbridled jazz performance, showcasing world-class musicians in this new and unique addition to London’s thriving jazz scene. housed in this unique and historic venue.


Curated by leading jazz scenesters, pianists Liam Dunachie and Mátyás Gayer, the After Dark programme brings free performance every Tuesday and Thursday evening - offering a daring showcase of the most established figures of UK jazz collaborating with London’s most exciting emerging artists in a no-holds-barred celebration of the art form.

Jonathan Bauer - The Big Easy - Celebrating the Sound of New Orleans
A one-time resident of the ancestral home of jazz, Jonathan Bauer brings the soulful, blues-drenched sounds of the New Orleans French Quarter across the pond into the heart of Mayfair.
Born and raised in Canada, Jonathan Bauer is a multi-talented trumpeter, singer and composer, most notably of the Grammy award-winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. In 2019, he burst onto the scene with his highly acclaimed debut album, “Walk Don’t Run.” introducing himself to the world as part of the rich lineage of trumpeters who front their bands as singers.
An internationally recognized and touring artist, Jonathan is widely celebrated for his dark and buttery sound. He has had the opportunity to study and perform with living legends Nicholas Payton, Robert Glasper, Ellis Marsalis and Wendell Brunious among others. A versatile musician, Jonathan enthusiastically crosses genres performing with R&B titans, such as Sheila E., Ledisi, and Eric Benét.

James Allsopp Quartet plays Stan Getz
A tribute to master saxophonist Stan Getz. The program will feature music from his rich back catalogue, expect lush ballads, lilting bossa novas, swinging standards and motoring bop compositions played by some of London’s most in demand musicians. Featuring award winning saxophonist James Allsopp with Colin Oxley on guitar, Oli Hayhurst on double bass and Tim Giles on drums playing music from their brand new album “Ballads and Bossas”.

Vocal Nights - Atila Huseyin
Atila is an established Jazz singer from the UK.
Sartorially stylish and musically classy, his interpretations of the American Songbook are internationally renowned, taking influence from early Frank Sinatra.
His honest stage presence, expressive voice and effortless sense of swing have made him a firm favourite with musicians and the jazz audience alike. Having graced renowned venues like Ronnie Scott’s, The Hippodrome Casino London, and The Royal Albert Hall with sold-out shows, Atila’s magnetic stage presence is undeniable.

Vasilis Xenopoulos: Soul Station and Beyond - The Legacy of Hank Mobley
Leading Greek expatriot, who has become well entrenched in the British straight-ahead jazz scene leads an all-star quartet in praise of the great American tenor player, Hank Mobley. Known for his fusion of bebop complexity with a soulful bluesy tinge, he became a huge influence on many subsequent players through his seminal albums on Blue Note, such as “Soul Station” and “No Room for Squares”

Charlie Pyne sings the music of Peggy Lee
A rare talent who is equally accomplished as a virtuosic double bass player as well as a singer and composer, Charlie Pyne has an infectious style of communication which has won over audiences across the UK.

Here she pays tribute to one of America’s most important singers and songwriters whose alluring, delicately husky voice and reserved style gave her the title “Queen of American Pop Music”
Since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2009, Charlie Pyne has built a thriving career on her solid groove, classic playing style and infectious cheerfulness. Her skill as an exemplary bassist has led to collaborations with a wide range of leading figures in jazz.
