Happy New Year + a ton of exciting shows announced!
Hi All,
This is our first mail out of 2018, so we’re taking this opportunity to wish you all a happy new year! Hoping that the year has got off to a good start for you. We had a nice little break and some downtime, as Green Note was closed for a couple of weeks over the holidays. But we’ve been back in action since 5th Jan, and kicked off the new year with a string of amazing sold out shows… AND we’ve just confirmed some very exciting stuff for later in the year… so all in all we’re feeling pretty excited about 2018! 😊
We’re going to be very busy this year with our “Green Note hits the road” series, where we put on artists we love (who have played Green Note in the past) at other venues around London. We have just announced a string of shows including rising star of country WHITNEY ROSE (Sun 29th April @ The Lexington), acclaimed Nashville-based Americana artist ROD PICOTT (Thurs 29th March @ The Old Queen’s Head), and acclaimed US folk singer DIANA JONES (12th March @ The Lexington), who played her first London show at Green Note many years ago. We’ve also just confirmed shows with Marty O’Reilly & The Old Soul Orchestra, Roxanne De Bastion, plus Green Note favourites, Birds of Chicago. We will be announcing more details shortly, so keep your eyes peeled.
We’ve also pleased to announce a special 3 date residency with renowned Canadian singer-songwriter JANE SIBERRY who will be presenting ‘The Something About Siberry Series’. Spanning 3 dates in March (7th, 14th and 20th March) and featuring special guests, this will be a rare intimate performance series by a highly interesting artist. Limited earlybird tickets are available now for all 3 dates and we’re expecting tickets to go fast for this one, so be quick if you don’t want to miss out!
Also going like hotcakes are tickets for two special fundraiser shows we are doing with our friends at fRoots Magazine: An evening with JOE BOYD featuring an intimate talk plus Q & A with the legendary record producer & author (Tues 17th April), and a special double bill featuring SAM AMIDON + OLIVIA CHANEY (Tues 1st May). Both of these promise to be unique and special nights, so we recommend getting your tickets now. We’re also very excited that we will be continuing into 2018 the very successful monthly residency hosted by THE MAGIC NUMBERS’ siblings, Michele & Romeo Stodart who have become good friends of Green Note have been running these nights with us for the past two years - they feature special secret guests, friends and artists they have played with over the years, plus of course performances from the hosts themselves. The nights are always are full of surprises, interesting collaborations, and are often a chance for artists to try out new material in an intimate setting. Featured artists have included McAlmont & Butler, Kathryn Williams, David Ford, Emily Baker, Polly Paulusma, Josh Kumra, Ren Harvieu and many many others. The next upcoming dates are 29th Jan, 22nd Feb and 25th March, and we’re looking forward to more surprises and amazing music!
Finally some upcoming highlights at Green Note over the next couple of weeks include Juno award-winning Canadian supergroup THE FRETLESS (Tues 23rd January), and the final date of a 3 week residency introducing award winning, critically acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter JACK CARTY who has recently relocated to the UK. Each date features a special guest who will be performing with Jack and we’re excited to announce that his final guest will be (Weds 24th Jan).
These are just a few of the shows we have in store, but there are of course lots more, so check out the events page on our website for full listings.
Hope to see you at one of our gigs soon!
Lots of love,
Immy & Risa xx
