The Vortex Jazz Club brings you London’s most exhilarating programme of jazz and improvised music.

29 June - 6 July

Greetings from the Vortex!

Saturday we have Soft Cell guitarist guitarist John Etheridge leading a benefit concert for virtuoso pianist, composer and band leader Keith Tippett who is recovering from a recent stroke: proceeds from the gig will go to support Tippett during this difficult time. Other musicians include Paul Dunmall and Geoff Eales.

Monday and Tuesday we bring a bit of downtown New York to Dalston in the form of Aaron Parks & Little Big. Do not miss this gig - for football lovers we have football from 7pm Downstairs with the gig starting 9pm upstairs so no excuses you can have your cake and it it!

Friday the Grand Union Orchestra take us on a trip to China with gu zheng (Chinese harp) virtuoso Zhu Xiao Meng and Ruijun Hu on dizi and xiao (Chinese flutes). There is also a free workshop to complement this performance Saturday 11am. Bring along an instrument and join Zhu Xiao Meng in a practical workshop exploring folk and classical Chinese music in relation to the Western tradition, jazz and improvisation. See our full programme .

Have a fab weekend,

The Vortex Team
