Vitor Pereira introduces his new ‘Electric Chamber’ quartet with a series of new videos.

Sunday, May 03, 2020

Portuguese born, London based guitarist Vitor Pereira has formed a new quartet featuring cellist Shirley Smart. The group hopes to record later in 2020 but has already issued a series of live videos.

Vitor Pereira writes;

I just thought about taking advantage of all this time spent at home during this crazy days to introduce you to my new band. We got some videos made just before the coronavirus hit. We’re planning to record something before the end of the year, but for now hope you enjoy these videos.

Electric Chamber is the latest band of guitarist Vitor Pereira
Once upon a time, on a particularly grey and rainy London day Vitor decided to dig into his old and forgotten folders of composition sketches and unfinished songs hidden away in the depths of his laptop.
Under a folder called “chamber” he found examples of music he had written years ago as an attempt to explore using a cello in some sort of chamber jazz setting.
The fragments of music sounded incredibly interesting and the potential for creating a new sound which explores elements of chamber classical music and the freedom and looseness of jazz was evident.
Electric Chamber was born!!

Shirley Smart – cello
Alam Nathoo – tenor sax
Adam Teixeira – drums
Vitor Pereira – guitar/compositions

“What if Ravel traveled through time and made a jazz band with cello, saxophone, drums and electric guitar”
……. Well, it would probably be something quite different but it might just tempt you to check out my new chamber jazz band’s videos:
