Marius Neset wins prestigious Norwegian jazz prize-plus reminder of tour dates.

Saxophonist Marius Neset has been awarded the JazZtipendiat Prize. He tours the UK and Europe in the Autumn. Details attached.

Following the release of his album ‘Golden Xplosion’, winning rave reviews throughtout Europe, Marius Neset has been awarded the prestigious JazZtipendiat Prize in co-operation with Midtnorsk Jazzsenter, an award given to a musician of outstanding capabilities.

These reviews not only confirm his promise but push him forward to one of the most inspirational young musicians in the European jazz scene in recent years.

Following standing ovations at the Cophenhagen Jazz Festival in July, this astonishingly talented musician has been awarded the prestigious JazZtipendiat Prize in co-operation with Midtnorsk Jazzsenter, an award given to a musician of outstanding capabilities. This prize of 650,000.00 NOK (approx. 85,000.00 Euro) will be used to create new music with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra which will be performed at Molde Jazz in 2012 as well as a proption will be be given to Marius Neset himself.
The jury said: “There were many good candidates this year. It was hard to choose, but everyone in the jury agreed about Marius Neset. He is a musician and composer that has had an impressive development over the last years. As a saxophonist he has a unique technique and tone-quality combined with an amazing rhythmical capacity.”

On 1st September Marius Neset will embark on his first UK Tour with his usual exceptional band including Jasper Hoiby (bass), Nick Ramm (piano, Keyboards) and Anton Eger (drums). Dates are as follows:
