News from Tom Arthurs

Monday, October 04, 2010

Trumpeter Tom Arthurs has emailed us with news of his concert and radio appearances and recording projects.

Here’s what Tom has to say;

::: Hello :::

Well, a while since one of these…

But some news about the Postcards from Pushkin project with Richard Fairhurst (piano)...
Inspired by some chunks of poetry from Aleksandr Pushkin and commissioned by the BBC-RPS-City of
London Festival in 2009, and in many ways the follow-up to our 2007 album, Mesmer.

Firstly: the cd will (finally) be out on Babel in the coming months, and we thank them
for this in this time of great uncertainty and mayhem in the record industry

Secondly: the live recording of our concert in Bath Festival last year is available online,
on Jazz Line-Up for the next few days here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00tzx4p

Thirdly: we will be appearing at the Vortex Jazz Bar, this Thursday, October 7th
in a double bill with German piano star Carsten Daerr and his trio
which features Oliver Potratz (bass) and Eric Schaefer (drums)

Look here, http://www.vortexjazz.co.uk/coming-soon.html or simply come!
11 Gillett Square, London N16 8AZ. 9pm. £8.

In other news, I have recently recorded some most pleasant albums as a sideman in the projects
of various friends, which will be out over the coming months: look out for them!

Firstly: with Miles Perkin (bass, compositions), Beno?t Delbecq (piano) and Thom Gossage (drums),

Secondly: with Denis Badault (piano, compositions), R?gis Huby (violin) and S?bastian Boisseau (bass)

Thirdly: with Sven Bergmann (piano, compositions), Stefan Werni (bass) and Bill Elgart (drums)

Hoping that all is well in your respective universes and to see you out there soon!
